Help Shape the Future of NAVTA

The National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) is now accepting nominations for the 2021-2022 election cycle for the Executive Board. Open positions on the Executive Board will be:

  • President-Elect (3-year term)
  • Secretary (2-year term)
  • Treasurer (2-year term)
  • Member-At-Large (2-year term)

Credentialed veterinary technicians who are and have been NAVTA members for at least three consecutive years are eligible to run for any of these positions.  Please see additional eligibility requirements for each position by clicking HERE

In an effort to encourage diversity on the NAVTA board, from both a demographic and professional perspective, the current board members completed a survey to help establish the current board profile.  This also helped the Nominating Task Force understand what that board profile will be lacking once some members’ terms expire.  While all eligible members are encouraged to run for a position, it would be ideal if a candidate met one or more of the following criteria:

  • Member of the LGBTQ+ community
  • Person of color
  • AAS or BS in Veterinary Technology
  • Area of practice in Large Animal, or Avian/Exotics/Reptiles, or Public Health
  • Candidate does not have their VTS
  • Candidate possesses a VTS in a specialty other than ECC, IM, or Nutrition.
  • Experience in Law, Business, Government/Public Policy or other areas that would bring non-veterinary-related value to the board.

This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the future of NAVTA and veterinary technology.  Please use the following link to complete the self-nomination form…and if you know a great candidate who is eligible and fits into any of the above categories, please consider nominating him or her (with the person’s permission, of course)!

In addition to the Executive Board elections, NAVTA will also be holding elections for our District Representative positions. This is a great first step into a leadership role within NAVTA. If you are interested in running for the District Representative position in your area, please reach out to your state association to express your interest in being their nominee.
