ECC: The ABCs of Emergency Response is a 5-week course that focuses on common emergency presentations and basic emergency procedures. Topics covered in this basic course include: Types and stages of shock; CPCR; common emergencies including affecting specific body systems; seizures; toxicosis. It also addresses electrocardiogram basics, emergency drugs including a chart with usage, fluid types and appropriate usage and monitoring, cardiac conduction, and the Heimlich maneuver. This course is appropriate for all practice team members seeking to improve their understanding of the basics of emergency response. Course is provided in open enrollment format allowing students to register at any time to begin their personal 5-week course session. This course carries 15 RACE credits for credentialed veterinary technicians upon successful completion as well as acceptance by The Academy of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Technicians (AVECCT) for their CE requirements.
