The University of Tennessee: University of Tennessee's Canine Osteoarthritis Case Manager Certificate Program covers the entire spectrum of OA Case Management from maximizing the effectiveness of business practices, correct utilization of the veterinary technician in case management applications, to exploration and application of the most common treatment modalities using the multimodal approach. Developed by Dr. Darryl Millis, University of Tennessee – Knoxville and other adjunct faculty, the purpose of the University of Tennessee Arthritis Case Manager Program is to improve the quality of life of dogs with osteoarthritis. The full OA Case Manager Certificate Program consists of 7 modules: 1) Osteoarthritis basics 2) Early identification of osteoarthritis 3) Nonsteroidal osteoarthritic agents 4) Nutritional management of osteoarthritis 5) This module will focus on how to use exercises and manual therapy to treat osteorarthritis. Manual therapy techniques are used to improve tissue extensability and range of motion, promote relaxation, modulate pain, and reduce inflammation 6) Cryotherapy, low level lasers, extracorporeal shockwave treatment, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, therapeutic ultrasound, pulsed electromagnetic fields, and static medical magnets as used to treat OA 7) Surgical treatments, stem cell therapy, and acupuncture as used to treat OA. Participants are able to access the modules for a full year with the option to update access after that for a nominal fee. This course meets the requirements for 20 RACE hours of CE credit for licensed veterinary technicians and veterinarians.  For more information, please visit:
