Dentistry: Polishing Up Your Dental Basics is a 6-week course that will take veterinary team members through many facets of dental care. It begins with general dental anatomy and the development of teeth as neonates. It reviews the components of a thorough oral examination and how to prepare and present a treatment estimate. From there the course will move into areas core to the job responsibilities of both veterinary assistants and veterinary technicians. Dental equipment and safe usage is reviewed. The prophylaxis procedure is covered extensively, including the use of nerve and local block for the prevention of pain. Anesthesia, including preoperative, perioperative and recovery, is discussed. Charting, radiographic techniques and interpretation finish out this extensive course. The course is provided in on-demand, open enrollment format, allowing students to register and begin their personal 6 week session at any time. Jeanne Perrone, CVT, VTS (Dentistry) instructs. Course meets the requirements for 15 RACE hours of CE credit for licensed veterinary technicians and for CE credit through Academy of Veterinary Dental Technicians (AEVNT). For more information, please visit
