Pain Management: Winding Down Pain in Companion Animals is a 4-week open enrollment course at an advanced veterinary level, appropriate for seasoned technicians or veterinarians. The course will examine the impact of pain and the process of accessing pain. It will focus on the physiology of pain and the development of acute pain to chronic and neuropathic pain. Participants will learn how to develop, and utilize, a pain scale in practice. In addition the special needs of cats will be explored. Participants work through numerous assignments designed to facilitate the learning process by providing practice-based critical thinking and case study assignments. Course is approved for 12 CE hours approved by RACE for both veterinarians and credentialed veterinary technicians. Mary Ellen Goldberg, BS, CVT, VMT, LAAS, SRA instructs.
