Clinical Pathology: Hematology Sampling for the Advanced Technician Part Two is a 6-week course designed for the veterinary technician seeking advanced training. This course builds on the concepts in Clinical Pathology: Hematology Sampling For The Advanced Technician Part One. This course will guide the student through various hematologic disorders, including platelet dysfunction, coagulopathies, DIC, and immune mediated thrombocytopenia. Various slides are presented, allowing the student to identify cellular abnormalities. Blood transfusions, a critical component in the treatment of hemopoetic cases, are discussed at length, for both dogs and cats. Bone marrow dysfunction finishes out the course, including sampling and processing techniques that can aid in the diagnosing of disease. The course provides 15 RACE approved CE credits to credentialed veterinary technicians upon successful course completion. Rebeccah Vaughan, CVT, VTS (Anesthesia) (Clinical Practice- canine/feline) instructs.
